The company is the world’s largest offshore operator and the second-largest supplier of natural gas in Europe. Equinor aims to become the most carbon-efficient oil and gas producer in the world, and to stimulate innovation in the area of offshore wind and sources of renewable energy. Equinor currently participates in 1.1 GW of offshore wind production capacity and is working on the development of a variety of world-class projects, including the 3.6 GW Doggerbank project in the UK, and the 3.5 GW Empire Wind project on the US Eastern Seaboard. Alexander Jongenburger, business development manager concerned with hydrogen in the Netherlands: ‘We believe that hydrogen can play an important role in achieving the global climate goals. The H-vision project is a good example of how hydrogen can be put to good use in those sectors that are difficult to decarbonise. From a strategic perspective, the Netherlands is well positioned for the development of a large-scale hydrogen value chain, and Equinor is very interested in being a part of this development.’
